3절, 아담은 백삼십 세에 자기의 모양 곧 자기의 형상과 같은 아들을 낳아 이름을 셋이라 하였고 And man lived a hundred and thirty years, and begat into his likeness, after his image, and called his name Seth.

‘백삼십 세’는 하나의 새 교회, 즉 태고교회와 아주 다르지는 않으면서 ‘자기의 모양 곧 자기의 형상과 같은’ 아들을 낳았다는 말을 듣는, 그런 교회가 일어나기까지 걸린 시간을 말합니다. ‘모양’은 신앙, ‘형상’은 사랑과 관계가 있습니다. 이 교회를 일컬어 ‘셋’이라 하였습니다. By a “hundred and thirty years” there is signified the time before the rise of a new church, which, being not very unlike the most ancient, is said to be born “into its likeness, and after its image”; but the term “likeness” has relation to faith, and “image” to love. This church was called “Seth.”
