※ ‘땅에서 피하며 유리하는 자’의 속뜻, 무엇이 선이요 진리인지를 알지 못함

12절, 네가 밭을 갈아도 땅이 다시는 그 효력을 네게 주지 아니할 것이요 너는 땅에서 피하며 유리하는 자가 되리라 When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee its strength; a fugitive and a wanderer shalt thou be in the earth.

‘땅에서 피하며 유리하는 자’가 무엇이 선이요 진리인지를 알지 못함이 분명한 것은 말씀에서 ‘방황함’과 ‘피함’의 상징을 보면 됩니다. 예레미야에서처럼 That to be a “fugitive and a wanderer in the earth” signifies not to know what is good and true is evident from the signification of “wandering” and “fleeing away” in the Word. As in Jeremiah:

13그의 선지자들의 죄들과 제사장들의 죄악들 때문이니 그들이 성읍 안에서 의인들의 피를 흘렸도다 14그들이 거리 거리에서 맹인 같이 방황함이여 그들의 옷들이 피에 더러워졌으므로 그들이 만질 수 없도다 (애4:13-14) The prophets and priests wander blind in the streets, they have been polluted in blood; the things they cannot do they touch with garments, (Lam. 4:13–14)

여기서 ‘선지자들’은 가르치는 사람들이며, ‘제사장들’은 그에 맞춰 사는 사람들입니다. ‘거리 거리에서 맹인 같이 방황함’은 무엇이 선이고 진리인지를 알지 못함입니다. where “prophets” are those who teach, and “priests,” those who live accordingly; to “wander blind in the streets” is not to know what is true and good.

[2] 아모스에서 In Amos:

7어떤 성읍에는 내리고 어떤 성읍에는 내리지 않게 하였더니 땅 한 부분은 비를 얻고 한 부분은 비를 얻지 못하여 말랐으매 8두 세 성읍 사람이 어떤 성읍으로 비틀거리며 물을 마시러 가서 만족하게 마시지 못하였으나 (암4:7-8) A part of the field was rained upon, and the part of the field whereupon it rained not withered; so two or three cities shall wander unto one city to drink waters, and shall not be satisfied, (Amos 4:7–8)

여기 ‘땅 한 부분은 비를 얻고’는 체어리티의 신앙의 교리를, ‘한 부분은 비를 얻지 못하여’는 체어리티 없는 신앙의 교리를 말합니다. ‘비틀거리며 물을 마시러 가서’도 마찬가지로 진리 추구를 가리킵니다. where by the “part of the field on which it rained” is signified the doctrine of faith from charity; and by the “part” or “piece” “of the field on which it did not rain,” the doctrine of faith without charity. To “wander to drink the waters” likewise denotes to seek after truth.

[3] 호세아에서 In Hosea:

16에브라임은 매를 맞아 그 뿌리가 말라 열매를 맺지 못하나니 비록 아이를 낳을지라도 내가 그 사랑하는 태의 열매를 죽이리라 17그들이 듣지 아니하므로 내 하나님이 그들을 버리시리니 그들이 여러 나라 가운데에 떠도는 자가 되리라 (호9:16, 17) Ephraim is smitten, their root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit; my God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him; and they shall be wanderers among the nations. (Hos. 9:16, 17)

여기 ‘에브라임’은 진리를 이해함, 혹은 신앙을 가리킵니다. 에브라임은 요셉의 장자였기 때문입니다. ‘그 뿌리가 말라’는 열매를 맺을 수 없는 체어리티를 가리키며, ‘여러 나라 가운데에 떠도는 자’는 무엇이 진리요 선인지를 알지 못하는 사람들입니다. “Ephraim” here denotes the understanding of truth, or faith, because he was the firstborn of Joseph; the “root which was dried up” denotes charity that cannot bear fruit; “wanderers among the nations” are those who do not know what is true and good.

[4] 예레미야에서 In Jeremiah:

28너희는 일어나 게달로 올라가서 동방 자손들을 황폐하게 하라 30여호와의 말씀이니라 하솔 주민아 도망하라 멀리 가서 깊은 곳에 살라 (렘49:28, 30) Go ye up against Arabia, and devastate the sons of the east. Flee, wander ye exceedingly; the inhabitants of Hazor have let themselves down into the deep for a habitation. (Jer. 49:28, 30)

‘게달’과 ‘동방 자손들’은 천적인 부 혹은 사랑에 속한 것들의 소유를 말합니다. 이런 것들은 황폐해질 때, ‘도망하라’, ‘멀리 가라’, 즉 ‘피하며 유리하는 자’가 되라 하는 말을 듣는데, 바로 ‘게달’과 ‘동방 자손들’이 선한 일을 전혀 못 하는 때입니다. ‘하솔 주민’, 혹은 영적인 부를 소유한 사람들, 이 부는 신앙에 속한 건데, 이 부를 소유한 사람들은 ‘하솔 주민아 깊은 곳에 살라’, 즉 그들은 멸망한다는 말을 듣습니다. “Arabia” and the “sons of the east,” signify the possession of celestial riches, or of the things that are of love, which, when vastated, are said to “flee,” and “wander,” that is, to be “fugitives and wanderers,” when they do nought of what is good. Of the “inhabitants of Hazor,” or those who possess spiritual riches, which are those of faith, it is said that they “let themselves down into the deep,” that is, they perish.

[5] 이사야에서 In Isaiah:

너의 관원들도 다 함께 도망하였다가 활을 버리고 결박을 당하였고 너의 멀리 도망한 자들도 발견되어 다 함께 결박을 당하였도다 (사22:3) All thy foremost ones wander together, they are bound before the bow, they have fled from far, (Isa. 22:3)

‘환상의 골짜기’, 혹은 체어리티 없는 신앙도 가능하다는 환상을 말하면서, 체어리티와 떨어져 있는 신앙을 주장하는 사람은 일종의 ‘피하며 유리하는 자’, 즉 선과 진리에 대하여 아무것도 모르는 사람이라 하는 이유가 이어지는 구절인 14절에 나옵니다. speaking of the “valley of vision,” or the fantasy that faith is possible without charity. Hence appears the reason why it is said, in a subsequent verse (Isa. 22:14), that he who professes faith that is apart from charity is a “fugitive and a wanderer,” that is, knows nothing of good and truth.

만군의 여호와께서 친히 내 귀에 들려 이르시되 진실로 이 죄악은 너희가 죽기까지 용서하지 못하리라 하셨느니라 주 만군의 여호와의 말씀이니라 (사22:14)
