AC.44, 창1:24-25, '하나님이 이르시되 땅은 생물을 그 종류대로'(AC.44-48)

※ 사람은 땅처럼 자기 안에 먼저 신앙 관련 지식이 심기지 않고서는 어떤 선도 생산, 즉 행할 수 없습니다. 그래야 그걸 가지고 뭘 믿어야 할지, 뭘 행해야 할지를 알 수 있기 때문이지요.

 

24-25절, 24하나님이 이르시되 땅은 생물을 그 종류대로 내되 가축과 기는 것과 땅의 짐승을 종류대로 내라 하시니 그대로 되니라 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living soul after its kind; the beast, and the thing moving itself, and the wild animal of the earth, after its kind; and it was so. 25하나님이 땅의 짐승을 그 종류대로, 가축을 그 종류대로, 땅에 기는 모든 것을 그 종류대로 만드시니 하나님이 보시기에 좋았더라 And God made the wild animal of the earth after its kind, and the beast after its kind, and everything that creepeth on the ground after its kind; and God saw that it was good.

사람은 땅처럼 자기 안에 먼저 신앙 관련 지식이 심기지 않고서는 어떤 선도 생산, 즉 행할 수 없습니다. 그래야 그걸 가지고 뭘 믿어야 할지, 뭘 행해야 할지를 알 수 있기 때문이지요. 말씀을 듣는 것은 이해(understanding)의, 그것을 행하는 것은 의지(will)의 일입니다. 말씀을 듣기는 하지만 행하지는 않는 것은 마치 우리는 믿음대로 살지는 않지만 믿고는 있다고 하는 것과 같습니다. 이런 경우, 우리는 들음과 행함을 분리, 결국 일종의 나뉜 마음을 갖게 되며, 이어지는 구절들에서 주님이 ‘어리석다’(foolish)하신 사람들처럼 됩니다. Man, like the earth, can produce nothing of good unless the knowledges of faith are first sown in him, whereby he may know what is to be believed and done. It is the office of the understanding to hear the Word, and of the will to do it. To hear the Word and not to do it, is like saying that we believe when we do not live according to our belief; in which case we separate hearing and doing, and thus have a divided mind, and become of those whom the Lord calls “foolish” in the following passage:

 

24누구든지 나의 이 말을 듣고 행하는 자는 그 집을 반석 위에 지은 지혜로운 사람 같으리니, 26나의 이 말을 듣고 행하지 아니하는 자는 그 집을 모래 위에 지은 어리석은 사람 같으리니 (마7:24, 26) Whosoever heareth my words, and doeth them, I will liken unto a wise man who built his house upon a rock; but everyone that heareth my words, and doeth them not, I liken to a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand. (Matt. 7:24, 26)

 

‘물들은 생물을 번성하게 하라’(the creeping things which the waters bring forth), ‘땅 위 하늘의 궁창에는 새가 날으라’(the fowl upon the earth, and upon the faces of the expanse)는 앞서 보여드린 대로 이해에 속한 것들을, 여기 ‘땅은 생물을 내되’(the living soul which the earth produces), ‘가축과 기는 것’(the beast and creeping thing), ‘땅의 짐승’(the wild animal of that earth)은 의지에 속한 것들을 말합니다. The things that belong to the understanding are signified—as before shown—by the “creeping things which the waters bring forth,” and also by the “fowl upon the earth,” and “upon the faces of the expanse”; but those which are of the will are signified here by the “living soul which the earth produces,” and by the “beast” and “creeping thing,” and also by the “wild animal of that earth.”
